I've been reading Lan and Pina's posts and had decided that they just might be right about the whole Christmas controversy. My mind was just made up while listening to the radio.

This verse from a very popular Christmas song obviously encourages bullying.

    All of the other reindeer
They used to laugh and call him names
    They never let poor Rudolph
    Join in any reindeer games
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">So now I'm thinking about other holidays that really have no part in contemporary American society.

I was looking atthis site and thought that Groundhog Day might be OK, but it's an old German tradition, and I think Trav might be offended.

The observance of New Year's Day offends me because Pope Gregory XIII changed the calendar.

MLK Day offends me because it's a made up holiday for black people and I'm white.

Robert E. Lee day discriminates against Northeners.

Inaugration Day is offensive because we little people in flyover country don't get invited to the parties.

Chinese New Year -- my objections to that should be obvious; I'm not Chinese.

Mardi Gras is a obviously a Catholic holiday.

Lincoln's Birthday is insulting to all Southeners.

Valentine's Day is another one that has its roots in Catholicism.

Lent, Ash Wednesday, Good Friday and Easter. That really doesn't need an explanation, does it?

    St. Patrick's Day -- see Valentine's Day.

Summer and winter solstices and spring and fall equinoxs are Pagan holidays. I'm not Pagan and I'm offended.

May Day is another Pagan holiday. AND it was adopted by those godless Commies.

Mother's Day and Father's day are obviously offensive orphans.

Memorial Day and Veteran's Days are offensive to pacificts.

Flag Day is offensive to all who do not believe in the American flag.

Independence Day and all those silly parades also have to go. What about the people living here who aren't citizens? What do THEY have to celebrate?

Labor Day has to be offensive to people who don't work. Why should working people get a day off, and sometimes get time and a half to make up the holiday and welfare checks aren't increased?

Thanksgiving Day has its roots in giving thanks to God and is offensive to atheists.

And of course, the whole Christmas thing needs to stop.

Since I'm not Jewish, Hindi, Muslim, Wiccan or anything else, I call for them to be banned across the board.

Edited to add: This is the first time I have laughed in over two weeks. It seemed strange to do it.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Sorry Greg. Football is a very sexist sport that excludes women. There should be NO celebration of any kind.

And until there is evidence that horses actually like to run, Derby Day should also be banned.
